Regulators and policy watchers have reason to pay attention when distribution becomes gatekeeping. The broader debate is familiar in antitrust and digital regulation circles: whether a dominant platform can shape outcomes in ways that disadvantage other businesses. In this case, the controversy is tied to user behavior, not just corporate strategy. People spending more time on Google is observable. Operators complaining is also observable.
